This piece was previously posted in the Christmas gift exchange at the sga_art_santa. The gift request was pretty broad: slash/mcshep. Given room to play I drew this:





This was interesting to draw. I was a wee bit rushed for time so, yes, the background is a picture of a chasm which I put through a watercolour filter, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got the image from -- somewhere on the web. I tried a lot of different Photoshop filters wanting to blur out and make the boys come to the fore-front. The background then became the lowest layer in the Firework MX's image I was drawing and I tweaked and shaded a little bit.

There isn't a lot of pics to use as reference points for John hanging precipitously over a chasm. In fact I couldn't find a single one, so I used my trusty wooden opposable doll:





This did, however, result in John's head been really, really big in the first draft. Luckily, Firework's comes with a really efficient rubber.

Art for the sga AU whaleverse. Inspired by the wonderful story Tao of Whales which friendshipper wrote for ME. This is the pic that came to me when I read the story (as I cackled mine).

I drew this for the casa_mcshep's La Fiesta de Verano organised by tex. We had a lot of fun playing in Sheppard and McKay's house and there's other entries for you to peruse.

I was surfing and quite randomly followed a link to an illustrator called Dorothy Pulis Lathrop, and I fell in love. Her use of lines and stippling; the precision of work; the content predominantly animals and children against fantastical backdrops, are magical. She also draws water in an intriguing stark manner. The pic below is based on her work. It is intended as a homage, I’m just playing and learning.

I simply could not resist drawing Rodney as a mermaid rescuing John who, as if by magic, appeared in the water before him. What actually happened was John got turned about on a patrol, took a misstep in his loosely tied boots, knocked himself silly and fell off the pier. Mer thought it was pretty magical and love a first sight. John took a little bit more convincing.

I couldn't help myself. This is from a little snippet in the comments in part one of ladyflowdi's Baby Rodney WIP. I don't know how to link to comments... go find it, it's by beadattitude and it's adorable.

ladyflowdi has written a very cute kid fic called Baby Rodney. I've read the parts several times just to revisit the glee of Wacky Uncle John looking after a de-aged Rodney. It's currently an ongoing WIP.

This was the cover which I created for the sga AU whaleverse created by friendshipper and naye. I signed up for the sgabigbang and when the prompts came up, I pounced on the whaleverse story. I was seriously rushed for time on this pic. I actually had to get an extension from svmadelyn and to meet that deadline I used a previous image of Ronon instead of drawing him from scratch. I was also totally influenced by Daniel Craig looking delectable in swimming trucks.

“This Thin Fabric” was a sga secret santa present for crysothemis and was part of the Christmas activities in sga_art_santa.

The picture is based on Crysothemis’ story The Trouble with Endothermia .




It is a combination of:
judicious use of my art mannequin, silver foil and digital camera (to try and figure out how the light works on a space blanket);
photo references from the episode “38 minutes” and DH's site;
playing with pencil and paper;
photograph of pencil drawing (I don't have a scanner);
Wacom tablet (the best toy ever), and
macromedia fireworksMX using the brush tool and airbrush tool.
