Rating: G Summary: Rodney likes to watch John frolic
So you see there’s this fic, Sweetheart Deal, by neevebrody, where Rodney basically teases John both deliberately and by just being Rodney and it’s awesome. It was posted a wee while back, but hie yourself on over there and reread it.
I was surfing and quite randomly followed a link to an illustrator called Dorothy Pulis Lathrop, and I fell in love. Her use of lines and stippling; the precision of work; the content predominantly animals and children against fantastical backdrops, are magical. She also draws water in an intriguing stark manner. The pic below is based on her work. It is intended as a homage, I’m just playing and learning.
I simply could not resist drawing Rodney as a mermaid rescuing John who, as if by magic, appeared in the water before him. What actually happened was John got turned about on a patrol, took a misstep in his loosely tied boots, knocked himself silly and fell off the pier. Mer thought it was pretty magical and love a first sight. John took a little bit more convincing.

ladyflowdi has written a very cute kid fic called Baby Rodney. I've read the parts several times just to revisit the glee of Wacky Uncle John looking after a de-aged Rodney. It's currently an ongoing WIP.
